Agartala, 2nd January 2024 :   A violent clash between class XI and XII students of Hrishyamukh Baash Padua Jahar Navodaya School left 20 students injured on Monday. The incident sparked outrage among the parents and the locals, who demanded strict action against the culprits.

According to sources, the trouble started on the night of December 31, when the school had permitted a New Year celebration and picnic on the premises. The program was supposed to end by 9:30 pm, but some class XII students refused to stop and argued with the teachers. They also tried to persuade the class XI students to join them, but they declined.

The next morning, the class XII students got angry when they found out that the class XI students had taken the tables from the dining hall to the stage, which they had claimed for themselves. They attacked the class XI students with nails, bamboo and pipes while they were having breakfast in the dining hall. The injured students were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The parents of the victims reached the school as soon as they heard about the incident. They accused the school authorities of negligence and irresponsibility for allowing the picnic at night. They also questioned the teachers’ attempt to settle the matter by compromise, instead of punishing the attackers. They said that they had informed the District Magistrate about the incident and demanded justice for their children.
