Agartala, 18th May 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today acknowledged the crucial role played by civil service officials in the state’s progress, emphasizing that while public representatives design various welfare schemes, it is the dedication of these officers that ensures their successful implementation and benefits the people.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Civil Service Officers’ Institute at Kunjaban, Agartala, Dr. Saha highlighted the importance of commitment and service in public administration. “I never imagined myself as a doctor or dreamed of holding multiple positions. But when you have a genuine desire to serve the people and work diligently, success follows. Institutes like this exist across the country, so I wondered why Tripura shouldn’t have one too. We must also consider the needs of officers coming from outside the state—providing them with proper accommodation and facilities encourages them to stay and serve here,” he said.
Recalling the words of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who called civil servants the “steel frame of India,” Dr. Saha stressed the significance of good relationships between elected representatives and officials.
“Elected leaders may conceptualize schemes, but it’s the officials who execute them on the ground. Since our government took office, we have ensured a pressure-free environment for officers, which was often lacking before. This has created a healthy work atmosphere, attracting talented and motivated individuals to Tripura’s civil services,” he added.
Dr. Saha also shared the current strength of civil services in the state: 59 IAS officers, 42 IPS officers, 40 IFS officers, 470 TCS officers, 152 TPS officers, and 50 TFS officers.
He praised the officials’ efforts in organizing the successful NEC Plenary session and their relentless work during the recent flood crisis.“If we continue working together with mutual respect and dedication, we can resolve the fundamental issues faced by our people by effectively implementing both central and state government schemes. The credit for the progress Tripura has witnessed truly belongs to these committed civil servants,” Dr. Saha concluded.
