Agartala: September 24. Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday urged the public to join in creating a movement against the drug menace.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha inaugurated the celebration of the 55th NSS Day 2023 and a seminar on “NASHA MUKT TRIPURA” organized by the NSS Cell at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhavan on Sunday.
Addressing the event, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of knowledge for a bright future.
He pointed out that there are conspiracies at play when it is observed that a majority of youths reside in India. This leads to the smuggling of drugs from Myanmar, Mizoram, and Tripura to Bangladesh.
“The main objective of the ‘Nasha Mukt Tripura’ campaign is to respond to the numerous requests we have received from people to save their children from the clutches of drugs. Entire families are being destroyed due to drug abuse. We have taken several initiatives and have made numerous arrests. Efforts are underway to apprehend the drug kingpins, and people should initiate a movement by identifying those involved in drug trafficking. This will aid our efforts. Drug abuse is a pervasive issue in the state, wreaking havoc on families. Conspiracies abound when it is evident that a majority of youths are in India, leading to the smuggling of drugs from Myanmar, Tripura to Bangladesh,” said Dr. Saha.
He also urged NSS volunteers to actively participate in the fight against the drug menace in the state.
