Agartala, 7th September 2025: Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the crucial role of teachers in shaping the social system. while addressing the third tri-annual state convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shashik Mahasangh at Nazrul Kalakshetra Auditorium today.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saha highlighted that teachers are the backbone of the country and the state, responsible for imparting real education and instilling values such as patriotism in the younger generation. “Teaching is a great profession, and teachers have immense responsibility towards society. They should guide students in the right direction for the future of the state and the nation,” the Chief Minister said.
Dr. Saha also lauded Tripura’s contribution to disaster relief, noting that the state had sent ₹5 crore to support people affected by the recent natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh, along with relief materials worth ₹45 lakh. He urged teachers to inculcate patriotism in students, emphasizing that dedicated educators help shape responsible citizens.
The Chief Minister further highlighted the state government’s initiatives in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for a developed India by 2047. “We have prepared a roadmap to build a developed Tripura, which has made our state 5th in India and 1st among the eight North Eastern states. Special emphasis is being given to infrastructure development, job creation, and promoting self-reliance,” he said.
Dr. Saha informed that the government has increased Dearness Allowance by 29% for teaching staff within 29 months of taking office. He underlined that teachers are the “craftsmen of the future,” investing their skills and knowledge in the next generation, which will, in turn, contribute to building the state and the nation.
The Chief Minister also touched upon policies regarding promotions, teacher shortages, and education for the visually impaired, assuring that these issues will be addressed in compliance with Supreme Court directives. He praised the growth of Tripura’s rural economy, noting that over one lakh residents have become millionaires, self-help groups have increased from 4,000 to 56,000, and the state ranks second in per capita income in the North Eastern region. Efforts are also underway for skill development and infrastructure improvement, including the establishment of a women’s university.
The convention was attended by former MP Rebati Tripura, Assam Zone Organizing Secretary Dr. Arjun Gop, State President Titu Saha, General Secretary Pranab Mallick, Treasurer Sanjay Kumar Raut, and numerous eminent educators and teachers.
