Agartala Jan 14: CPIM-Congress alliance in Tripura is nothing but a ‘Friendship-of-need” said chief minister DR Manik Saha after the Left and Congress officially announced their relationship ahead of Tripura polls.
Claiming that the move would reduce the number of possible winning seats further, the chief minister said, “People of Tripura are well aware of this drama”.
“The BJP is reaching out to the last man of the society to see if all sorts of government benefits are reaching out to them. But the opposition are busy in moving from one party office to other”, he said.
Lambasting the claims of opposition over lack of food, electricity and water, Dr Manik Saha said, “thousands of people in Tripura area availing free ration, houses have been provided to lakhs of beneficiaries, pure drinking water, electricity what else the people need”.
“The promotion of doctors was halted for past 22 years but it is the BJP government that promoted them”, he added.
Mentioning that the alliance miserably failed in West Bengal where the distance was already been bridged by the two parties, Dr Saha said that the parties that remained firm foes – a cause for much hand-wringing, and occasional ideological anguish, especially within the CPI(M) is now embracing each other ahead of assembly elections, ‘The followers of Congress have realized that it won’t be fruitful to support the party anymore’.
“I was scared to see the pictures yesterday as it is hard to believe how Congress could think of merger with CPI-M who is responsible for murder of numerous Congress activists”, said CM.
