Agartala, 17th June 2026: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today visited the fire-affected area at Office Line in Agartala, where a recent blaze destroyed six shops and a club. He assured full government support to those impacted by the incident.
During his visit, the Chief Minister spoke with affected shopkeepers and local residents, assessed the damage on the ground, and reviewed the situation with district officials. He assured that the administration would extend all possible assistance to help the victims recover from the losses.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, Dr. Saha said the fire had reportedly started due to a suspected short circuit, though he added that the exact cause would only be confirmed after a proper investigation. He expressed sympathy for the victims, noting that the destroyed shops were the primary source of livelihood for several families who had been running businesses there for decades.
Officials informed him that six shops and one club were completely gutted in the fire. The Chief Minister also stated that restoration work would take about a month and assured that both government aid and personal support would be extended to those affected.
The visit was attended by senior officials, including the District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, West Tripura SP Namit Pathak, and other police and administrative officers.
