Agartala, 3rd May 2025:  Residents of the capital city are increasingly anxious about rising incidents of theft and the presence of drug addicts during nighttime hours. Despite routine police patrols, thefts continue unabated in various areas, raising concerns about security measures.

Last night, a gang of thieves targeted a shop in the Supari Bagan area located under West Police Station. Shop owner Sumit Deb found the break-in early this morning when he found the door of his store forcibly opened. Upon entering, he realized that cash amounting to Rs 29,000, along with various valuables had been stolen.

Dev promptly reported the incident to the police, but the theft has sparked fresh concerns among residents regarding the effectiveness of night patrols. Many have begun questioning whether existing security measures are sufficient to deter criminals from carrying out such crimes under the cover of darkness.

Meanwhile, city dwellers are calling for stricter vigilance to curb the increasing incidents of theft and improve safety in Agartala’s neighborhoods.
