Cong to burn effigy of CM Dr Saha in protest of Yesterday’s attack

Agartala: August 12. The Tripura Pradesh Congress has decided to burn effigies of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in protest against the attack on Congress leaders, workers on Thursday in Jirania sub-division under West district.

Addressing a press conference on Friday at Congress Bhawan in Agartala Pradesh congress president Birajit Sinha said that Tripura is the one and the only state where the government is not giving permission to Congress for holding their nationwide protest. “To celebrate the 75th Independence Day, Sonia Gandhi has announced Bharat Jodo Abhiyan across the country and in our state too. But Tripura government is the one and only government which prevents us from holding this Abhiyan. We have sought permission too but they are not allowing us. They are throttling the democratic right”, he said.

He claimed that except in Tripura, Congress is holding their porgamme across in other states.“We condemned it vehemently. In Belonia the South District Superintendent has given permission it would be held today.  However, in Bishalgarh police didn’t give us permission. This is a new freedom fight to oust the BJP from Tripura and we will be on field. We will retaliate and people are with us”, Sinha told reporters.The party has also demanded immediate arrest of the culprits who have attacked the Congress workers, leader and condemning the role fo Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Congress has also decided to burn the effigy of the CM across the state from this evening.
