Congress Chief Asish Kumar Saha plans strategy for three-tier Panchayat elections, emphasizes local decision-making

Agartala, 27th June 2024 :  Following a strategic organizational meeting at Belonia Congress Bhavan on Thursday, Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha announced that the India Bloc alliance would uphold its commitment across all of India to safeguard the constitution and democracy.

However, he clarified that decisions regarding the three-tier Panchayat elections would be left to local leaders through discussions.

The meeting, convened with observers from seven blocks in anticipation of the upcoming elections, commenced at noon on Thursday. Discussions centered on the Congress party’s participation in the panchayat elections, encompassing candidate selection and various election-related issues.

“In order to counter the ruling party, our strategy will be determined locally through dialogue among our leaders,” stated Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha. He further disclosed that the party has formally requested the Election Commission to facilitate online nomination submissions for the panchayat elections, underscoring the importance of smooth electoral procedures.

District Congress President Mridul Patari and other prominent leaders were also in attendance at the organizational meeting.

The upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections are poised to be a pivotal moment for the Congress party, with local decision-making pivotal to their electoral strategy.
