Agartala, 12th June 2024: In a concerted effort to address alleged irregularities in the voter list for the upcoming 3-Tier Panchayat elections, senior leaders of the Pradesh Congress Committee submitted a deputation to the North District Magistrate.
The delegation included Pradesh Secretary Chayan Bhattacharya, General Secretary Indrajit Pal, Pradesh Vice-President Basit Chowdhury and Kurti-Kadamtala Block Congress President Manik Lal Das emphasized the need for immediate revisions to the electoral roll.
“This deputation primarily concerns the 54-Kurti-Kadamtala block,” stated Pradesh Secretary Chayan Bhattacharya. “We have observed several irregularities in the voter lists across various wards, which could undermine the integrity of the upcoming elections.”
General Secretary Indrajit Pal elaborated on the issues, explaining, “We have detailed where and what kinds of discrepancies have been identified. These include inconsistencies in voter registrations and potential cases of ineligible voters being included. We urge the District Magistrate to take swift corrective action.”
Pradesh Vice-President Basit Chowdhury added, “Fair elections are the cornerstone of democracy. It is imperative that these issues are resolved promptly to ensure a transparent electoral process.”
The deputation reflects the Congress party’s commitment to upholding electoral integrity and addressing constituents’ concerns. Local residents and party members are now awaiting the District Magistrate’s response to these pressing issues.
