Agartala, 24th June 2025:   The Gomati District Congress Committee staged a protest in front of the Radha Kishore Pur Police Station today condemning an alleged attack on a local party youth leader and demanding swift police action against those responsible.

The protest follows a political clash on June 21 between workers of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a public meeting of the 32-Matarbari Congress unit held at Dataram Bazar under the Matabari assembly constituency. The event had been organized with police permission and was addressed by senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman when tensions flared and violence broke out. Both parties subsequently filed cases at Radha Kishore Pur Police Station.

Congress leaders have since alleged that the situation in Mata Bari remains volatile. On Monday night, unidentified individuals reportedly attacked the residence of Indrajit Das, a youth leader of the Congress from the same constituency.

In response, Congress supporters led by Gomati District Congress President Titon Pal marched from the party’s district office to the police station, demanding a thorough investigation and accountability. “We want to know why Indrajit Das was attacked. The administration must bring the culprits to book,” Pal told reporters during the demonstration.
