Agartala, 17th June 2024: Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha on Monday labeled allegations of corruption against the BJP-led government from grassroot level to Zilla Parishads in the state and refrained from social audits.
Saha urged the women to come forward and participate in the ensuing three-tier Panchayat election in order to provide benefits to the common people at the grassroot level.
Addressing a meeting of the Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee at Congress Bhavan here on Monday, Saha said the Pradesh Congress party has organized its organizational meeting in different parts of the state and discussion has been held to the party base strong in the state.
Citing the three-tier Panchayat elections will be held in the state soon, Saha said “The former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took initiative in the Parliament and introduced thirty-three percent reservation for women in urban and rural local bodies. Hence, women play a pivotal role in decorating the grassroot level developmental works in a redefined way.”
PCC President urged all the women to come forward and participate in the panchayat elections. He batted for women empowerment which in turn will boost the development in the grassroot level.
He further accused the ruling party for bad condition in the panchayats across the state. “No social audits of the Panchayats are held. Corruption and embezzlement of government funds meant for the development of common masses have surfaced from Panchayats to Zilla Parishads”, he alleged.
