Court grants 4-day police remand for Dayal Hari Debnath

Agartala, 19th December 2024:    The court on Thursday granted a 4-day police remand for Dayal Hari Debnath, who was arrested by the RK Pur police station on charges of defaming a ruling party MLA and the party. Debnath was produced in the Udaipur court amidst tight security.

Police officials stated that Debnath had spread several propaganda on social media to defame the ruling party MLA and the party. He is also accused of extorting money from ruling party leaders. His arrest followed a case filed by two BJP workers at the R.K.Pur police station.

On Wednesday, the R.K.Pur police station presented Debnath in court, seeking a 5-day remand. After a hearing in the presence of both the complainant and the accused, the court granted a 4-day police remand for Debnath. The investigation into the case continues.
