Agartala, 3rd September 2026 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) has become the first political party to file nomination papers following the announcement of the election schedule for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) village elections.
On Thursday, around 45 CPIM-backed candidates submitted their nomination papers for seven of the 14 ADC villages under the jurisdiction of Bokafa Block. The nomination papers were handed over to the Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Bokafa.
Following the submission, CPIM party secretary Ashutosh Debnath addressed the media and provided details of the nomination process. He said candidates had filed nominations for Patichari, Takmachhara, Birchandranagar, Rajapur, Manu and Salthangmanu ADC villages, along with the other scheduled village constituency under the block.
Debnath said CPIM candidates would submit nomination papers for the remaining seven villages in the coming days.
He further stated that after the nomination process, the party would launch a campaign highlighting what it described as the lack of development in various ADC areas. Key issues to be raised before voters, he said, would include poor road connectivity, unemployment, inadequate healthcare facilities, drinking water problems and shortcomings in the education sector.
The CPIM leader appealed to voters to support the party’s candidates with a decisive mandate, claiming that a strong victory would help address the existing problems and accelerate development in the ADC areas.
The filing of nominations marks the beginning of the electoral contest in the Santirbazar region, with political parties expected to intensify their campaigns in the days ahead.
