Agartala, 23rd December 2025:   The CPI(M) intensified its statewide agitation this week with protest rallies and public meetings across Sonamura subdivision, Dharmanagar and Kailashahar, voicing sharp opposition to central and state government policies.

In Sonamura, demonstrations were held at Mohanbhog Bazaar and Durlav Narayan Bazaar, where party leaders accused the government of undermining rural livelihoods by scrapping the MGNREGA Act and introducing a new law under the banner of “VB Ram Ji.” Unlike earlier programs, the rallies drew not only party cadres but also local working-class residents, signaling broader public participation.

At Durlav Narayan, the first phase of the rally focused on MGNREGA before leaders condemned the recent killing of Dipu in Bangladesh, terming it “unprecedented and inhuman.” Former MLA Tapan Das and Tripura State Khet Majur Union president Radhaballabh Debnath delivered fiery speeches, while the meeting was chaired by Bani Singh Debbarma, Pranab Debnath, and Abdul Rezzak. Meanwhile, Mohanbhog Bazaar saw another protest led by the local Antar Committee, with addresses from CPI(M) members Ramchandra Noatia, Ratan Das, Dinesh Das, and Bijon Chakraborty.

Parallel to the rallies, the CPI(M) Local Committee at Kailashahar submitted a mass deputation to N.C. Biswas, Assistant Engineer of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, seeking urgent solutions to the drinking water crisis in Nurpur, Phulbari Kandi, and Srinathpur. Demands included installation of filters, pipeline extensions, electricity connections for water tanks, and new deep tube wells. Biswas assured prompt action on the grievances.

In Dharmanagar, a massive rally convened by the CPI(M) Sub-Divisional Committee marched through key streets before culminating at Noapara Kalibari Dighi. Participants carried red flags and raised slogans against extremism, demanding justice and protection of democratic rights.

Key demands included the arrest of those involved in Dipu Das’s murder, restoration of 200 days of guaranteed work under MGNREGA, and condemnation of the November 26 attack on a CPI(M) rally at Dharmanagar Motor Stand.

CPI(M) leaders Amitabh Dutta and Abhijit Dey slammed police inaction and accused the state government of neglecting schools and infrastructure while fostering political violence since 2018. “The red flag flies and will continue to fly,” Dey declared.

The rally was attended by former minister Bijita Nath, MLA Islam Uddin, and district-level representatives, who pledged to intensify mass movements against terrorism and fundamentalism while calling for peace and communal harmony.
