Agartala, 11th November 2025: During the ongoing investigation into the Jirania “Phensedyl” drug racket case, crime branch have now raided the residence of a suspected kingpin in the region. The accused, Apu Das, a resident of Bormura area under Kalamchoura police station, has long been allegedly involved in illegal narcotics trade while maintaining a lavish lifestyle.

According to local sources, Apu Das is known to have close ties with influential figures and is considered a “favorite worker” of a local political leader. Allegations suggest that he managed to continue his illegal operations for years by manipulating local authorities and using his political connections.

Today morning, a joint team from the Tripura Crime Branch and Bishalgarh Police Station raided his residence. However, Apu Das reportedly fled before the operation began, after getting a tip-off about the police action.

The raid was led by Anti-Narcotics ASP Souvik Dey, who informed the media that although no illegal substances were recovered during the operation, the police are continuing their investigation. He also confirmed that Apu Das already has a previous case registered against him at Mungiakami Police Station related to Phensedyl smuggling.

Notably, just a few days ago, Apu Das was seen receiving an honorary felicitation from MLA Tofazzal Hossain, which has now raised further questions about his political affiliations and protection.

Local sources claim there are several more complaints pending against Apu Das for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and other illegal activities. The police have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend him as part of the larger crackdown on the Phensedyl smuggling network in Tripura.
