Agartala, 9th August 2025:  A group of burglars struck in broad daylight today targeting a residence in Netaji Subhash Colony near the Sekerkote railway bridge under the Kamalasagar assembly constituency.

At approximately 10 am, the home of Nandalal Das was broken into while he was away working in a nearby rubber plantation. His wife was also out at the time, leaving only their son at home. However, the son had briefly stepped into the bathroom, during which the thieves seized the opportunity to enter the house.

The burglars made off with two high-end mobile phones, Rs 40,000 in cash and approximately three ‘bhori’ of gold ornaments. Upon returning home shortly after, Nandalal Das found his suitcase open and valuables missing. Realizing a theft had taken place, he raised an alarm prompting neighbors to rush to the scene.

The incident was immediately reported to Amtali Police Station and the emergency control room. Police arrived swiftly and began an investigation.

Speaking to media personnel, Nandalal Das expressed concern over the lack of police patrolling in the area, especially given the ongoing large-scale IOCL project nearby. He urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and recover the stolen items, while also demanding the arrest of those responsible.

Local residents, shocked by the daytime burglary, claimed this was the first such incident in the area. They echoed Das’s concerns, calling for increased security measures and regular police patrols to ensure public safety.
