Agartala, May 03: A happy moment turned very sad for the Debbarma family in Kamalpur. Deepraj Debbarma left for a job interview in Guwahati met with a terrible bus crash and he died on spot. This happened only four months after he got married, making it even more heartbreaking.
The fateful night of May 01 last turned into a nightmare as Deepraj’s journey home took a devastating turn. The young man’s dreams of a promising career were shattered in the blink of an eye, leaving his family shattered and grappling with overwhelming grief.
As the news of Deepraj’s untimely demise spread, the Debbarma household was engulfed in mourning. His parents, once hopeful for their son’s bright future, now found themselves bereft of words, their dreams dashed by the cruel hands of fate.
Upon the arrival of Deepraj’s coffin-bound body, the scene was one of unbearable sorrow. Deepraj’s premature departure from this world left behind a void that seemed insurmountable. Just months ago, he had embarked on a new chapter of life, filled with promise and aspirations. However, destiny had other plans, leaving his loved ones grappling with the harsh reality of his absence.
Adding to the family’s anguish was the apparent lack of assistance from the authorities following the tragedy. Despite their desperate efforts to bring Deepraj’s remains home, the administration’s silence spoke volumes, prompting widespread criticism from various youth organizations.
The absence of official support only served to deepen the sense of injustice felt by the grieving family. Their plea for acknowledgment and assistance fell on deaf ears until the intervention of concerned citizens and activists demanded accountability from the administration.
Leaders from DYFI, TYF, SFI, and TSU voiced their outrage over the situation. The DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb stated that the body underwent post-mortem at Silchar Medical College 21 hours after the accident.
Surprisingly, no administrative official has yet visited the family of the deceased. Only when the Sub-Divisional Magistrate arrived, but as Darlong was unavailable, they conversed with DCM Jina Prasad Barua. Opposition youth leaders demanded that administrative staff promptly visit the deceased’s home and provide support to the grieving family. Criticizing the government’s inaction, they called for a job to be offered to one of the deceased’s family members.
