Agartala, 16th May 2025:  Sepahijala district witnessed a significant step towards enhancing waste management infrastructure with the distribution of diesel garbage transport vehicles equipped with hydraulic facilities. The event took place this afternoon at the Sepahijala district administration ground and was organized by the Sepahijala Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin.

Sepahijala district’s DM Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal along with Member Secretary of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin Dhruba Jyoti Debbarma presided over the ceremony. As part of the initiative, keys to the garbage transport vehicles were formally handed over to the Block Development Officers (BDOs) of seven blocks within the district. Each block received two vehicles, totaling 14, with an additional vehicle allocated specifically for Bishramganj Gram Panchayat.

The brief yet significant ceremony took place in front of the District Magistrate’s office, where officials emphasized the importance of these vehicles in maintaining cleanliness across rural markets, gram panchayats, and villages. District Magistrate Dr. Jaiswal highlighted that the vehicles, supported by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department under the Ministry of Jal Shakti would contribute to improved waste collection and disposal mechanisms.

Officials expressed confidence that the new fleet would strengthen waste management efforts, ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment across Sepahijala district.
