Dilapidated Road Forces Temporary Relocation of Fair Price Shop in Melaghar

Date:

Agartala, 18th July 2026 :Residents of Telkajla Bardepa under Baniyachhara Gram Panchayat near Melaghar have alleged official negligence over the poor condition of a key village road, which has become unsafe for commuters.

Large craters have developed on the road, while retaining walls have collapsed into nearby agricultural fields. The embankment of the adjacent stream has also caved in, making the route increasingly hazardous.

The road serves as the only major link between the village and Melaghar market. Due to its deteriorating condition, vehicles carrying essential commodities, including ration supplies, are unable to reach the local Fair Price Shop.

As a result, the ration shop has been temporarily shifted to Telkajla Kalibari, causing inconvenience to beneficiaries.

Villagers said they have repeatedly informed the authorities but no repair work has been initiated. They urged the administration to immediately restore the road and normalise transportation in the area.
