Agartala, 18th July 2026 :Members of the NSUI, Youth Congress and fellow students of deceased schoolgirl Zubaida Khatun staged a road blockade at Baburbazar in Kailashahar on Saturday, demanding a fair investigation and a CBI probe into her mysterious death.
The body of Zubaida Begum, a Class X student from Hira Chhara ADC Village, was found hanging seven days ago. With no breakthrough in the investigation, residents and students took out a protest rally and blocked the road for nearly an hour.
The victim’s family alleged that it was not a case of suicide but a planned murder. They demanded a CBI investigation, arrest of the culprits and the strictest possible punishment.
According to the protesters, several aspects of the case raise serious questions. They claimed the body was found hanging from a high tree, the scarf allegedly used was not the victim’s, her school bag and other belongings were recovered from a distant location, and blood stains were reportedly found on her legs.
The blockade was withdrawn after police assured the protesters that the matter would be brought to the notice of higher authorities. However, the demonstrators issued a 48-hour ultimatum, warning of a larger agitation from Kailashahar to Agartala if their demands are not met.
