Agartala, 18th September 2024: Dilip Ghosh, former President of the West Bengal BJP, has sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for its alleged failure in maintaining law and order in West Bengal. Ghosh’s comments came as he arrived in Agartala on Wednesday afternoon to oversee the BJP’s ongoing membership drive.
In a press briefing held at MBB Airport, Ghosh condemned the TMC’s 13-year rule, asserting that despite multiple electoral victories, the party has lost control over administrative matters. He cited a dramatic increase in criminal activities, including over 50,000 reported incidents such as rape, murder, and crimes against women, and criticized the lack of justice and accountability.
Ghosh also referenced the R G Kar incident and voiced his support for the protesting junior doctors. He called for rigorous actions against those responsible, justice for the victims, and the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Regarding the BJP’s membership drive, Ghosh detailed that it is part of a broader national initiative that began in 2014 and continued through 2019. The current phase, which commenced in August and will run until October 2024, aims to enroll over 10 crore members. Ghosh has been assigned to supervise the drive across five districts in Tripura. He emphasized that booth-level workers are diligently working towards this target, with senior leaders and former MPs leading similar efforts in various districts across the country.
