Agartala: September 18. Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik today said that government would soon launch ‘District Disability Rehabilitation Centres’ (DDRC) in Belonia.The minister said this while inaugurating ‘Samajik Adhikarita Sibir’ at Belonia Old Town hall today.
The camp was organized by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India and the South Tripura District Administration in which the various mobility and support materials were distributed among 250 disabled people and senior citizens under Belonia Municipal Municipal Council and Bharat chandranagar block.
It is to be noted that today, 1,585 Divyangjans under all Block Offices, Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Council areas of South Tripura district have been given mobility and support materials. Rs 1 crore 32 lakh rupees have been spent for this.
Inaugurating the camp, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said, “On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shibir’ was held at 72 places in 28 states of the country. In all these camps mobility and aids were provided to disabled and senior citizens.”
She said that the central government has taken various schemes for the welfare of the poor.
“The government would soon launch DDRC in the Belonia. To set up this, the central government has allocated Rs 48 lakh. The central government has taken various schemes for the welfare of the poor, divyangjans and all these projects are also being implemented in the state as well. A job and loan fair will be held on the campus of Tripura Central University on November 12-13 for the Divyangjans of North Eastern region. Divyangjans should never think of themselves as helpless. Central and state governments are always on their side”, she said.
