Agartala, April 08: Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Saturday said that there is no greater gift than donating blood and it also creates a unique feeling among the blood donors.
While inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp organized by ‘Spandan’ – social organization at Agartala Press Club on Saturday, Dr Saha initially met with blood donors and encouraged them.
The Chief Minister said that blood donors do not have any caste, religion, gender or political colour. Donating blood reminds us that we are all one. Human service is our religion. He expressed the opinion that it is possible to build ‘Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura’ and the Prime Minister’s declaration of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas’ only through human service work.
The Chief Minister said that the way the people of the state have come forward to donate blood has turned blood donation into a public awakening.
He said that everyone should play an active role against addiction. The government will always stand by those who come forward to build a healthy and beautiful society. The Chief Minister also laid emphasis on more women coming forward in blood donation camps.
At the blood donation camp, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said that people have accepted blood donation as a social responsibility and duty. Debasish Chakraborty, chairperson of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan also spoke. Chitra Roy, president of ‘Spandan’ Social Organization gave the welcome address. Dr Haimanti Bhattacharya, secretary of the organization gave a vote of thanks. Altogether, 55 people donated blood in the camp.
