Donation Boxes Opened at Matabari Temple After Nearly Three Months

Date:

Agartala, 18th   May 2026: After a gap of nearly three months, the donation boxes of Tripura Sundari Temple were opened on Monday morning for counting.

A total of 16 donation chests and boxes placed inside the temple premises were unlocked, and the counting process continued throughout the day until evening.

According to administrative sources, the donation boxes contained not only Indian currency but also foreign currencies from several countries. Among the recovered currencies were US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepali currency, and Bangladeshi Taka. The presence of these foreign currencies highlights the growing popularity of the temple among international tourists and pilgrims as well.

To ensure smooth and transparent counting, the Gomati District administration formed a special 16-member team for the process. Despite intermittent rainfall causing minor disruptions during the day, the counting work continued under strict security arrangements and administrative supervision.

Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chattopadhyay stated that the counting process was expected to conclude between 8 pm and 9 pm.

Temple authorities informed that the collected donations would be utilized for various developmental activities of the temple, including renovation, maintenance, conducting religious rituals and festivals, and improving facilities and services for devotees.

A particularly emotional moment during the counting process drew the attention of everyone present. CRPF jawan Buddhadeb Das donated his entire first month’s salary of ₹33,310 at the feet of the Goddess as an offering. His selfless act created a deep sense of admiration and emotion among devotees and officials alike.

The huge volume of donations reflects the unwavering faith and devotion of pilgrims visiting the temple. The participation of devotees from both India and abroad once again demonstrates the widespread reverence for Goddess Tripura Sundari.
