Agartala, 7th March 2025: After years of public demand, the residents of Udaipur are finally seeing action on the reconstruction of municipal drains and the improvement of the city’s water drainage system. Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Shital Chandra Majumdar and Municipal Council CEO Tridip Sarkar today announced that the state government has initiated work on this long-awaited project.
“Thanks to the efforts of Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Rs 20 crores have been allocated in the initial phase to address the drainage issues that have caused persistent difficulties for city residents,” said Chairman Shital Chandra Majumdar during a press briefing. He confirmed that work on the project has already commenced.
CEO Tridip Sarkar further elaborated on the plan, emphasizing that the municipal council is focused on providing relief to residents. “Our aim is to gradually eliminate water accumulation in the city’s drains to prevent inconvenience to the people,” Sarkar stated.
The municipal council also issued an appeal to the citizens, urging them to avoid placing sand, bricks, or other items that could obstruct movement on the sides of the roads, as this could hinder the ongoing work.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, hoping for a swift resolution to the drainage issues that have plagued the city for years. The project is being seen as a crucial step toward alleviating the longstanding woes of Udaipur’s population.
