Agartala, 21st May 2026:In a recent anti-narcotics operation in Agartala, police conducted a raid in the Hara Krishna Para area of Nandan Nagar following specific intelligence inputs.
On Thursday, a joint team from NCC Police Station and GB Outpost carried out the operation at the residence of one accused individual, identified as Abhijit Sarkar. However, during the raid, the suspect managed to flee from the scene before being apprehended.
Subsequently, the police searched the house and recovered a significant quantity of illegal substances, including brown sugar and cannabis (ganja). Authorities believe the accused had been actively involved in drug trafficking activities in the locality for a long time and had developed into a major supplier in the area.
According to SDPO Subrata Barman, the accused escaped as soon as he got an indication of police presence. A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and further investigation is currently underway.
Police officials stated that efforts are being made to track down and arrest the absconding suspect.
