Agartala, 21st May 2026:. According to the lunar calendar, Eid-ul-Adha is expected to be observed on Thursday, 28 May 2026, across India, including Tripura. On this occasion, thousands of Muslim devotees are expected to perform Qurbani (animal sacrifice), including cattle, goats, and buffaloes, following long-standing religious traditions.
A statement issued by Tripura State Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind has appealed to the state government and administrative authorities to ensure special vigilance so that the religious observance can take place peacefully and without disruption. The appeal emphasizes the importance of maintaining law and order during Eid prayers and Qurbani activities across Muslim-majority localities in rural and urban areas of Tripura.
The message also urges devotees to conduct Qurbani in a responsible manner, ensuring that it does not cause inconvenience to people of other communities. It advises against performing sacrifices near Hindu households or in open public spaces, and encourages carrying out the ritual within private premises. It further stresses proper disposal of waste, including burying remains underground, in accordance with hygiene practices.
Highlighting the importance of communal harmony, the statement underscores Islamic teachings that prohibit causing harm or distress to others. It calls for strengthening peace and brotherhood among Hindus, Muslims, tribal communities, and Bengali populations, which form part of Tripura’s diverse cultural heritage.
The appeal concludes with Eid greetings and a wish for the progress and prosperity of the state, emphasizing the need to uphold Tripura’s reputation for secularism, unity, and social harmony.
