East Agartala Police arrests two in Rs 2 lakh robbery and recovered Rs 1.35 lakh

Agartala, 3rd July 2026:  Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a violent robbery case involving Rs 2 lakh in the East Agartala Police Station area.

Police sources informed that the incident took place when Dhananjay Tripura arrived from Sabroom with Rs 2 lakh to purchase a vehicle. He went to the rented house of Rajesh Tripura in Agartala’s Lalbahadur area. At that time, Rajesh was not at home, and a group of three to four men allegedly attacked Dhananjay and snatched the money.

Following the complaint lodged at East Agartala Police Station, officers launched an investigation and arrested two individuals from Lalbahadur locality late Thursday night. On Friday, SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy informed the media that the accused were taken into custody and would be produced before the court with a remand plea. He further stated that police recovered Rs 1.35 lakh from the suspects.

This case highlights the growing concern over robbery incidents in the region and the swift action taken by Agartala police.
