Agartala, 20th April 2026: Two weeks long Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) on TAILORING was held at Batahdeepa Sangma Para, Madhya Laxmibill Gram Panchayat under Sepahijala District Tripura. The initiative aims to acquire the basic skill on various trade/ areas as per demand of present market and also encourage to set up at least micro/ small enterprises under MEPP scheme. The inaugural program of EDP on Tailoring was organized by the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) ARKANEER with the financial support of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) under Micro Enterprises Promotion Programme(MEPP).
This inaugural program of the EDP was attended by Ruma Das, Pradhan, Madhya Laxmibill Gram Panchayat, Anup Dey, Project Officer, NBIRT, Uma Sangma , Master Trainer of Tailoring trade, Nandan Chakraborty and Arun Acharjee, Senior Executive of MEPP project.
During the program, Anup Dey, Project Officer, NBIRT shared the perspective and various scoop of MEPP. Dey also shared role of NBIRT. Nandan Chakraborty, Senior Executive of MEPP under NBIRT delivered the address & welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Further he also mentioned, about the importance of MEPP project.
At the event, Ruma Das, Pradhan, Madhya Laxmibill Gram Panchayat, while delivering a speech, emphasized the importance of hands on training and self-reliance for unemployed tribal youths/women of Batahdeepa Sangma Para.
The Gram Pradhan, Madhya Laxmibill GP thanked NBIRT for inaugural of skill training program at Sangma Para and continuous NBIRT’s innovative efforts for self employment particularly for unemployed youths & SHG members.
A good number of ST unemployed youths, specially women of various places under Madhya Laxmibill were attended in this event.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Arun Acharjee, Senior Executive of NBIRT, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries and participants. It is worth mentioning that, this training will continue until May 5, 2026.
By speaking with the participants, it was learned that, this kind of hands-on training program is the first of its kind in Sangmapara. Educated & energetic women, i.e Jhulan Marak, Payel Marak, Laxmi Sangma Marak, Chanchala Biswakarma Thapa, sharmistha Marak expressed great happiness at getting the opportunity to participate in the training and each of them highly praised the ‘ARKANEER’, Sekerkote.
