Education dept intensifies rural school monitoring; Secretary Ramteke reviews 140 schools in Gandatwisa

Agartala, 12th June 2026:  Following the directives of Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha to improve the quality of education and strengthen teaching-learning standards across the state, the Education Department has intensified monitoring and review activities in government schools, particularly in rural areas.

Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, Education Department Secretary Milind Ramteke and senior officials have started conducting field visits, reviews, and on-the-spot inspections in different parts of Tripura to assess the existing educational scenario and identify areas requiring improvement.

As part of this initiative, Secretary Ramteke on Friday held a detailed review meeting at the Dumbur Nagar Town Hall with headmasters and headmistresses of 140 Junior Basic and Senior Basic schools under the three blocks of Gandatwisa Subdivision — Ganganagar, Raisabari, and Dumburnagar.

During the meeting, the Secretary reviewed the overall academic situation of the schools and discussed measures to ensure a stronger foundation for students at the primary level. He emphasized the need for teachers to provide quality education through individual attention and focus on improving the basic learning skills of every student studying in government schools.

Secretary Ramteke also informed that students’ academic progress and skill development will be assessed every 15 days to ensure continuous improvement in learning outcomes.

The meeting included discussions on the challenges faced by rural schools, teaching methodologies, classroom practices, and strategies to enhance the effectiveness of education delivery.

Dhalai District Magistrate and Collector Vivek H.B., SDM of Gandatwisa, District Education Officer, and Inspectors of Schools were present during the review meeting.

The Education Department has stated that similar review meetings will be conducted regularly at district and subdivision levels throughout the state to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement of educational standards. The initiative aims to strengthen the foundation of school education and improve learning outcomes among students in rural Tripura.
