Agartala, 23rd August 2026 : An eight-year-old boy drowned after accidentally falling into a river while playing with other children near the riverbank in the Nabinagar Muktul Hossain Para area under Bishalgarh police station on Sunday afternoon.
The child, identified as Azmir Islam, reportedly fell into the river suddenly and was swept underwater. Local residents rushed to the spot after receiving the information and began searching for the child.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), also reached the site and joined the search operation.
However, the child had not been recovered till the time of filing this report. The incident left the family members devastated, while a pall of grief descended on the locality.
