Agartala, 4th June 2025: In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking in the region, youths booked an elderly man today for allegedly selling cannabis at Ramesh Chowmuhani, Udaipur. The accused identified as 70-year-old Haradhan Shukla Das is a resident of Bhangar Para, Udaipur.
Reportedly, Das had been involved in the illegal trade for the past three years, sourcing ganja packets from Bishramganj and selling them at Rs 20 each. On the day of his arrest, he had reportedly brought another consignment from Bishramganj. Youth Suman Roy Sarkar intercepted Das and handed her over to Radha Kishore Pur police station, where she remains in custody.
Despite periodic crackdowns by law enforcement, drug abuse among Udaipur’s youth continues to be a pressing concern. While authorities have apprehended several dealers and users over time, the issue persists.
Police officials are expected to conduct further investigations into the network of suppliers and consumers linked to the case.
