Evening OPD services now available at all district hospitals in Tripura

Date:

Agartala, 8th September 2026 :   Patients across Tripura can now access outpatient medical services at district hospitals during evening hours, as the state government has expanded the Evening OPD facility to all district hospitals.

The services will remain available from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, providing an additional window for patients who are unable to visit hospitals during regular daytime hours. The initiative is expected to particularly benefit working people and residents from rural and remote areas who require medical consultations after the usual OPD hours.

The expansion is part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery at the district level and make medical services more accessible to the public. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha has been emphasizing the expansion of healthcare facilities and improvement of medical infrastructure across the state.

Gomati District Hospital became the first to introduce evening OPD services on July 14, 2026, following a review of healthcare facilities at the hospital by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte. Following the introduction of the service there, the government has decided to extend the facility to district hospitals across Tripura.

Officials expect the additional OPD hours to help patients receive treatment closer to their homes instead of travelling to Agartala for routine consultations. The initiative could also contribute to reducing the patient burden at major healthcare institutions such as Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital.

With evening consultations now available at district hospitals statewide, the government hopes to improve access to timely healthcare while strengthening the role of district-level hospitals in providing essential medical services.
