Agartala, 3rd October 2025 : On the night of Maha Dashami, while the entire area was immersed in the joy of Bijoya celebrations, a tragic incident took place at the Anandamela fair held at Netaji Play Forum Centre here. A family from Radhanagar comprising a husband, wife and their child was allegedly assaulted by a group of local youths reportedly affiliated with the organizing club of the fair.

Local people and victims informed that the woman and her child had gone to ride the Ferris wheel while her husband remained below, requesting the club volunteers to extend the ride duration slightly. What began as a simple request quickly escalated into a heated confrontation. The volunteers allegedly became agitated and multiple members reportedly attacked the man, beating him severely and knocking him to the ground. When his wife attempted to intervene, she too was allegedly assaulted.

The woman has named the accused as Kaushik Acharya, Dipayan Saha alias Biltu, Sagar Dey and Kisan Biswas. She claims they pushed her down and physically assaulted her. The family immediately dialed emergency services (112) for police assistance. Though officers arrived promptly, the accused had reportedly fled the scene by then.

Police took the fair organizers to the station for questioning. The injured family was first taken to IGM Hospital and later shifted to GBP Hospital due to the severity of their condition.

In a startling development, the accused club members have not been seen in the area since the incident. Locals reported spotting some club members near the police station, but it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.
