Fatal collision between bike and freight truck in Kalsi leaves one dead, two injured

Agartala, 15th December 2024:   A tragic accident occurred on the Sabroom-Agartala National Highway in the Kalsirmukh area under Santirbazar subdivision on Sunday, when a bike collided head-on with a freight truck. The incident resulted in the death of one person and serious injuries to two others. The bike bearing registration number TR08F-7968 collided with the freight truck bearing registration number TR01C-1619 causing all three riders to be thrown onto the road.

Emergency responders from the fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the injured and the deceased. They were transported to the Jolaibari Community Health Center, but due to the critical condition of the injured, two individuals were referred to the South Tripura District Hospital at Santirbazar for advanced treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bike riders, identified as residents of the Kalsi area, were traveling to Baikhora, while the freight truck was en route from Baikhora. The collision caused the truck to lose control and overturn on the national highway. The driver of the freight truck fled the scene immediately after the accident.

The deceased has been identified as Sukanta Hazari (30) of Kalsi area. The injured individuals are Amal Debnath (27) and Karna Das (32), both also residents of Kalsi area. Police from Baikhora police station arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.

Local authorities have emphasized the need for cautious driving and adherence to traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. The community mourns the loss of Sukanta Hazari and hopes for the swift recovery of the injured.
