Father Attacked by Drunken Son Over Property Dispute in Kamalpur

Agartala, 6th February 2025:    A shocking incident took place in Singh Bhumij Para of Kaimachara village under Kamalpur police station of Dhalai District, on Wednesday night, where a father suffered a fractured skull after being attacked by his own son with a liquor bottle.

The injured father, 65-year-old Gobinda Singh Bhumij, is currently undergoing treatment in a critical condition at Kulai District Hospital. The incident has sparked widespread concern and unrest in the local community.

According to sources, Gobinda Singh Bhumij owns a rubber plantation spanning approximately 8 to 9 kani. A longstanding dispute between him and his son, Ravi Singh Bhumij, over the ownership of this property had been escalating. Ravi had been pressuring his father to transfer the rubber garden in his name, leading to frequent arguments between the two.

On Wednesday night, Ravi Singh Bhumij, reportedly in an inebriated state, returned home and engaged in another heated altercation with his father. In a fit of rage, he attacked Gobind Singh Bhumij by striking him on the head multiple times with a liquor bottle, leaving him critically injured and bleeding profusely.

Witnesses to the incident immediately alerted the Kamalpur fire brigade, who arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Bimal Singh Memorial Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Kulai District Hospital for advanced medical care.

The victim’s wife confirmed that their son was responsible for the brutal assault. Meanwhile, the shocking act of violence has left the residents of Singh Bhumij Para in disbelief, with many demanding strict action against the accused.
