Agartala, 14th June 2025: In a heartwarming tribute to World Blood Donor Day, a man and his two daughters quietly set an inspiring example of social responsibility by donating blood together at IGM Hospital in Agartala today.
Sauvik Bardhan Roy, an Inspector with the Legal Metrology Department marked his 70th blood donation turning a personal commitment into a cherished family tradition. His two daughters Debjani and Dakshini joined him at the hospital’s blood bank in what became a powerful moment of shared humanity.
“This journey began in 2002 at our home in Ramnagar-3 in the presence of Dibyananda Maharaj. That day planted the seed of family blood donation in our hearts,” said Bardhan Roy, speaking to the media.
World Blood Donor Day, observed on June 14, commemorates the birth of Karl Landsteiner, the pioneer of blood transfusion. For the Bardhan Roy family, it was more than just a date—it was a celebration of values passed down across generations.
His younger daughter Dakshini Bardhan Roy made her first-ever blood donation having recently turned 18. Her beaming smile reflected the pride and fulfillment of joining the family tradition. Her elder sister Debjani, a regular donor contributed for the ninth time.
“I want my daughters to contribute something meaningful to society, and voluntary blood donation is one of the noblest ways,” added Bardhan Roy.
