Final preparations for I-Day celebration in North Tripura, strict security measures across district

Agartala, 13th August 2026 :  With Independence Day approaching on August 15, administrative and security arrangements in North Tripura have reached their peak. A full-dress rehearsal parade was held today as part of the preparations, featuring ten platoons that showcased an impressive march-past.

Following the inspection, North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Independence Day. Speaking to the press, he confirmed that the final rehearsal was successfully completed and expressed confidence that the main parade on August 15 will be conducted flawlessly.

To ensure a peaceful celebration, security has been tightened across the district. The SP stated that strict surveillance is in place, with BSF and TSR jointly conducting “area domination” operations, particularly in border regions. Police forces in all subdivisions have been placed on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents.

The district police administration expressed hope that, as in previous years, Independence Day will be celebrated in a safe, peaceful, and joyous atmosphere. Minister Santana Chakma is scheduled to hoist the national flag on August 15.

Today’s rehearsal was attended by Additional SP Ashish Kumar Thakur, DSP Mukulendu Das, and other senior officials alongside the Superintendent of Police.
