Agartala, 13th August 2026 : Police in Dharmanagar have achieved another success in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive. Acting on a tip-off, officers from Dharmanagar Police Station arrested a man near the Rajbari ISBT area and seized approximately 17 grams of brown sugar.
The accused has been identified as Uttam Kumar Nath, son of late Chittaranjan Nath, a resident of Dainchhara in Kanchanpur, North Tripura.
According to police sources, intelligence inputs suggested that a person was moving through the ISBT vicinity carrying narcotics. A plainclothes team was deployed, and around 2 p.m. the suspect was intercepted while carrying a bag. In the presence of Deputy Collector Magistrate Dipankar Das and a forensic team, the bag was searched. Several empty drug containers and a packet containing brown sugar were recovered.
The accused was taken into custody and brought to Dharmanagar Police Station. Authorities have registered a case under the NDPS Act and launched an investigation to trace the source of the contraband and identify possible accomplices. Police confirmed that efforts are underway to determine whether the arrested individual is part of a larger drug trafficking network.
