Agartala, 27th August 2025 : The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Agartala, West District today convicted five residents of Paschim Dukli in connection with a 2022 hurt and assault case sentencing each to pay a total fine of Rs 1,200. In default of payment, the convicts will face simple imprisonment ranging from two to three days per charge.
The convicted individuals are: Ashok Deb (35), Koushik Saha (35), Soubik Saha (26), Debajit Deb (32), and Debasish Deb (27).
All five were found guilty under Sections 341, 323, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with PRC (SP) 219/2023 and Amtali Police Station Case No. 67/2022. The court imposed fines of ₹300 under Section 341 IPC (wrongful restraint), Rs 600 under Section 323 IPC (voluntarily causing hurt) and Rs 300 under Section 506 IPC (criminal intimidation). Failure to pay the fines will result in simple imprisonment of up to three days.
The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector Rahul Das of Amtali Police Station, who submitted the charge sheet against the accused. After examining the evidence, the trial court held all five individuals guilty and pronounced the sentence accordingly.
