Agartala, 28th August 2025: East Agartala Police station staff led by OC Subrata Debnath has arrested five notorious thieves in connection with recent temple thefts involving gold ornaments and cash. The arrests were made following a series of coordinated raids across multiple locations, police confirmed today.
Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak stated that the gang had targeted Banamalipur and Pratapgarh’s Trinath Temple in recent weeks, making off with significant quantities of gold jewelry and cash. FIRs were subsequently lodged, prompting an intensive investigation.
“Based on the complaints, we launched a multi-location operation and successfully apprehended five individuals. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the thefts,” Pathak said.
Police recovered stolen gold ornaments and a battery from the suspects. The arrests were made in the Chandrapur area, and the accused are expected to be produced before the court today, with police seeking remand for further interrogation.
