Agartala, 28th August 2025: In a proud moment for Tripura’s academic community, twelve students from the state have been selected to participate in a prestigious space exploration programme organized by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The initiative, scheduled to take place on August 27 and 28 in Bengaluru, will offer hands-on exposure to space research, rocket launch procedures, and cutting-edge scientific technologies.
Of the twelve selected students, nine hail from North Tripura district and three from West Tripura. Among the selected students from North Tripura, three are from prominent schools in Dharmanagar town. Debadrita Bhattacharjee, a Class XI student, represents Dharmanagar Government Higher Secondary Girls’ School; Mousumi Pal, also in Class XI, hails from Padmapur Higher Secondary School; and Anubhav Kilikdar, a Class IX student, comes from Golden Valley School.
The remaining six students from North Tripura are drawn from various subdivisions across the district. Chaitali Deb, a Class XI student, is from Kadamtala Higher Secondary School; Shreya Acharya, in Class IX, studies at Panisagar English Medium School; Rajib Pal, also in Class IX, attends Blockchhara Secondary School; Parag Biswas, Class IX, is from Kanchanpur English Medium School; Binit Das, Class IX, studies at Satsangam Secondary School near the India-Bangladesh border; and Abu Mohammad Zakaria, Class IX, is enrolled at Yubarajnagar Higher Secondary School.
From West Tripura, the selected students include Shambhu Chakraborty and Shakil Hossain, both Class XI students from Sukanta Academy English Medium School, and Riyaz Tripura, a Class XI student from Mohanpur Higher Secondary School.
The delegation will be led by Shyamal Dey, a teacher from Fulbari Higher Secondary School in North Tripura.
Local educators and school authorities have hailed the selection as a landmark achievement, not only for the students but for the entire state. “This is a feather in the cap for Tripura’s education system,” said a school official. “It reflects the growing academic excellence and curiosity among our youth.”
The news has sparked excitement across schools in North Tripura, with teachers, students, and parents celebrating the recognition. Many see this opportunity as a gateway to inspire future generations toward careers in space science and technology.
Educational experts believe that early exposure to space research can ignite scientific curiosity and ambition among students. At a time when India is celebrating the success of missions like Chandrayaan and Gaganyaan, Tripura’s representation in ISRO’s national programme marks a historic moment for the region.
The repeated selection of students from Dharmanagar and surrounding areas underscores North Tripura’s growing prominence on India’s educational and cultural map.
