Food ministers of Assam and Tripura hold talks on strengthening public distribution system

Agartala, 11th July 2026:   Tripura’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today met Assam’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Roy at the state secretariat in Agartala. 

During the courtesy meeting, Minister Roy was briefed on the overall functioning of Tripura’s public distribution system, the implementation of food security programmes, and initiatives taken to improve service quality, transparency, and accountability. 

The two leaders also held fruitful discussions on ways to deliver more efficient, transparent, and people-friendly food services to citizens at the grassroots level. 

Minister Chowdhury reaffirmed the government’s commitment to public welfare, stating: “Our efforts will continue to modernize the food and public distribution system, making it more effective and citizen-centric.”

This meeting marks another step in strengthening inter-state cooperation on food security and ensuring that essential services reach people with greater efficiency.
