Students, parents protest school’s dilapidated state

Date:

Agartala, 11th July 2026:   Students, parents, and teachers of Bhodrai Senapati Para J.B. School in Mandai, under Borokha Circle of Jirania subdivision, have expressed strong resentment over the dilapidated condition of the school building. They allege that despite repeated appeals for renovation, no effective steps have been taken so far.

Local residents complain that during the monsoon, rainwater seeps through the roof, disrupting classes. As a result, students are often forced to take shelter in the staff room, severely affecting the learning environment.

School authorities stated that the matter has been reported multiple times, both verbally and in writing, to the Mandai Inspector of Schools (IS) and the concerned education department. However, apart from occasional measurements being taken, no repair work has commenced.

Parents and community members further alleged that year after year, the building remains unrepaired despite the recurring problems during the rainy season. They stressed that immediate renovation is essential to ensure the safety and education of the children.

In this context, students, guardians, and school authorities have appealed to C.K. Jamatia, Executive Member of the Education Department under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), to visit the school and take urgent steps for its repair.
