For MBB College Revitalization Project, ASCL holds consultation workshop with stakeholders

Agartala: Nov 03. Agartala Smart City Limited organised a stakeholders consultation and knowledge sharing workshop for MBB College Revitalisation Project in the three pond area. This is an Asian Development Bank assisted project.

The program was chaired by Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder. Dr. Ashok Sinha, Vice-Chairman State Planning Board; Dr. Satyadev Poddar, Vice-Chancellor, MBB Uiversity; Dr. Dilip Kumar Das, MLA and Chairman of the City level advisory forum; Dr. Arunodaya Saha, Ex-VC Tripura University; Santosh Saha, Chairman, TTDC; Manika Das Dutta, Deputy Mayor, AMC and Sukhomoy Saha, Corporator, AMC were present in the program.

Besides that Principal, BBMC college, Bishu Karmakar, Member Secretary, Tripura State Pollution Controll board, Faculties of MBB College, Law college, BBMC college, the inmates of the quarters, members of Modern Club, members of angling society, local residents and members of various NGOs were present.

The workshop started with opening remarks by Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, IAS, CEO of the Agartala Smart City Limited and Municipal Commissioner, AMC. He explained the total project components. He mentioned that the project aims to make the lake accessible as well as to make the area aesthetically attractive. After the project the area will become safer especially for women and children. The lake is now susceptible to pollution because of uncontrolled interventions and those will be taken care of once the project is implemented.

The inaugural session of the program ended with closing remarks by Mayor. During the Technical Session the details methodology of the work using pontoon method was explained by the agency who will be doing the work. The environmental safeguards issues were also explained. This project is a Category B project as per Asian Development Safeguard Policy Statement 2009. This involves minimal impact to the environment. After that the house was opened for discussion of the stakeholders. The stakeholders spontaneously participated participated in the discussion along with the dignitaries where some expressed their concern for the work and some people gave very vital suggestions.

The workshop ended with closing remarks by CEO, ASCL where he assured that all the suggestions and concerns will be  considered during the implementation of the project. He also requested for all out support cooperation from all the stakeholders.
