PPP-model Nursing College to be built in Teliamura

Agartala Nov 05: A PPP-model nursing college is going to be started in Teliamura from the next academic year.State Assembly Chief Whip Kalyani Roy and other officials visited the government premises including an abandoned house at Gamaibari in Teliamura on Friday to initially start the college from the next academic year.

Notably, the PPP(Private-Public-Partnership)- Model Nursing College at Teliamura will be built permanently at the site of the Health Department’s Old Hospital. Although construction work will take three years finish, the current state government is going to start teaching in Teliamura Nursing College from the next academic year. If everything goes well, the Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Manik Saha, will lay the foundation stone of the new building at the old hospital site in the next few days. However, to ensure that the nursing college can be started in the new academic year, on Friday, Chief Whip of State Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy, Teliamura Pur Parishad Chairman Rupak Sarkar, Tripura Nursing College Principal Dr. Alekhya Dasgupta, Dr Gaurav Dasgupta along with officials of the Department of Public Works first visited the site at Teliamura Old Hospital where Teliamura Nursing College will be constructed permanently and later went to Gamaibari where initially the college will be started from the the next academic year.

Speaking to the reporters, Kalyani Roy said that the nursing college is going to be started initially by the hands of the Chief Minister of the state in the new academic year. “If the nursing college is opened in Teliamura, it will benefit the students of Khowai district as well as Dhalai and Gomati districts of the state”, she added.To improve and further strengthen the quality of education in the state, the Tripura government has decided to open five more degree colleges under the government and PPP-model. Out of five degree colleges, 3 will be opened under government and 2 under PPP model from the current academic year.
