Agartala, 1st December 2025:     Bishalgarh witnessed tension after officials from the Forest Department carried out a sudden raid at New Sarkar Furniture, a shop near Narimangal.

According to shop owner Nitai Sarkar, despite presenting all required documents, officials seized wooden furniture and other items from his store. Sarkar alleged that goods worth nearly Rs 1.5 lakh were taken without any prior notice or written order.

“I had all the papers with me. Even after showing them, they didn’t listen and carried away my stock. Taking away materials without any notice is completely unjust,” Sarkar told reporters.

The incident has triggered anger among the local business community. Traders complained that such raids, even when legal documents are in place, are creating fear among entrepreneurs and disrupting the normal business environment.
