Agartala, 15th February 2025:   Former MLA of the ruling party of Golaghati assembly constituency and Chairman of Jampuijala Block Advisory Committee Birendra Kishore Debbarma has extended his support to the family of Mangal Charan Debbarma, a 26-year-old youth who was brutally murdered by his friends. This afternoon, Debbarma visited the house of Mangal Charan in the Takarjala Paillabhanga area, where he spoke with Mangal’s wife Jyotika Tripura and her family members including their two children.

Jyotika Tripura recounted that her husband, Mangal Charan was a hardworking individual who never drank alcohol and was dedicated to his rubber plantation and family. On the evening of February 10, Mangal Charan was taken from his home by his three friends, Yagyu Debbarma, Junction Debbarma, and Ganesh Debbarma. He did not return home that night, and his body was discovered in a nearby rubber plantation forest in the early hours of February 11. He was immediately taken to the Takarjala social health center, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Following the incident, the Takarjala police station arrested the three friends involved in the crime. The family has been left devastated by Mangal Charan’s death, with Jyotika Tripura unsure how to manage her future with their two children.

Former MLA Debbarma has assured Jyotika Tripura of his support in all matters and has called for a thorough investigation into the death of Mangal Charan Debbarma. He emphasized the need for the Takarjala police to properly investigate the case and ensure that the culprits are severely punished.
