Agartala, 23rd February 2025:  In a historic moment for the residents of Boxanagar, the foundation stone for the much-awaited Boxanagar branch of the Fire Department was laid on Sunday at 3 PM by Boxanagar Assembly MLA Tafazzal Hossain. The milestone comes after a long wait of 75 years, marking a significant step towards strengthening emergency response services in the region.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was held at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore 60 lakh 98 thousand 118. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Chairperson of Boxanagar Panchayat Samity Swapna Nam, Sipahijala Zilla Parishad member Milan Nesha, eminent social worker Anil Chandra Das, and Panchayat Pradhans of Boxanagar and Kalsimura, among others.

During the event, the guests emphasized the development-oriented work undertaken by the government. They noted that while the BJP-led administration has been actively working for the welfare of the people, opposition parties such as the Left and Congress have failed to acknowledge these efforts. They reiterated that development is the driving force of the nation and urged for collective support in transforming Boxanagar into a model town.

Speaking at the ceremony, MLA Tafazzal Hossain expressed his pride in fulfilling his election promise to establish the fire department branch. He highlighted the significance of this project in ensuring better disaster management and fire safety in the area.

“After 75 years, this is not just a foundation stone but a dream come true for the people of Boxanagar. Our government is committed to the all-round development of the region, and this fire department branch will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our residents,” said Hossain.
